Obituary of Norma Hensley

Funeral services for Mrs. Norma Hensley, 86, of Spirit Lake, will be 1:30 pm Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Visitation will be after 3 pm Friday, December 19, 2014 with the family present from 5 -7 pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Interment will be at Silver Lake Cemetery in Lake Park. Norma Jeanne Hensley was born October 7, 1928, in Sibley, Iowa, the daughter of George and Ruth (Boyd) Worrick. Norma was raised and educated in Ocheyedan, where she graduated from high school. Norma was united in marriage to Robert Snelson in 1949 until 1955. She married Paul Hensley in 1965. The couple made their home on a farm near Lake Park until Paul's death in 1972, then moved into town. Norma moved to Spirit Lake in 1975, and began working as a proof-reader for the Spirit Lake Beacon. Norma was affiliated with the Methodist Church and was a member of the D.C. Audubon Society. Norma enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels, reading and work search puzzles. She also loved cooking and baking for her family, playing cards and her Siamese cats, Samantha and Tammy. Norma passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake at eight-six years of age Norma is survived by her daughters, Mary Heidebrink (Paul) and Linda Webber (Larry, Sr.); "adopted" daughter, Linda Gano (Dan); grandchildren, Angela Heidebrink Bailly, Heather Heidebrink Muir, Larry Webber, Jr. (Amy) and Tanya Webber; great-grandchildren, Kirah Muir, Katherin Hayden and Laurel Webber; great-great grandchild, Luna Davis. She is also survived by a brother, Dale Worrick, nieces and nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Paul Hensley, brothers, Robert Worrick and Harold "Bud" Worrick, sisters, RoxAnne Bramley and Helen Worrick, niece, Dawn Worrick Snyder and nephew, Rob Worrick.
