Obituary of Owen Otkin

There will be a public visitation on Sunday, January 18, 2015 from 3:00-5:00pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Owen Wayne Otkin was born on January 5, 2015 at 9:19pm to the parents of Taylor Raymond and Trevor Otkin, at Avera Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Owen welcomed the world at 23 weeks gestation and spent his 10 days of life in the NICU at Avera. Owen weighed 1 pound and 4 ounces and was 12 inches long. The definition of Owen means young warrior, a young warrior is what Owen was. He touched many hearts and had such a personality. Owen stood out to the nurses and doctors at Avera, due to his strength and age. On January 16, 2015, in the early morning, Owen passed away. He will be dearly missed and remembered. Owen is survived by his parents, Taylor Raymond and Trevor Otkin; grandparents, Tina and Mike Raymond and grandmother, Joyce Otkin; six aunts, Michelle Lachner, Nicole McKinney, Jess Otkin, Haley Raymond, Madison Raymond and Kennedy Raymond; two uncles, Rick McKinney and Greg Otkin; four cousins, Haley Lachner, Ryan Otkin, Alex McKinney and Jack McKinney. Owen was welcomed into heaven by his grandfather, Wayne Otkin; great-grandmothers, Coral Raymond and Sylvia Furlan and one cousin, Kyle Lachner.
