Mrs. Boyer passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Keelson Harbour Assisted Living. Norma Blanche Boyer, age 87, of Spirit Lake, IA, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, February 7, 2015. Norma was born to Justin and Jennie Anderson on February 13, 1927 in Nobles County, Minnesota. Norma was raised in Worthington, Minnesota and lived there until her marriage to Raymond Tryon in 1943. After marrying, the family moved to the Twin Cities. Raymond Tryon passed away in 1965. In March of 1966, Norma married Floyd "Tuffy" Boyer. They resided in Harris, Iowa. Norma and Tuffy both worked for the Harris Lake-Park school system for over 25 years. Norma enjoyed knowing the children of many families during that time and remained in contact with several of these families for several years after her retirement. In 2011 Norma moved from her home in Harris to Keelson Harbour in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Norma was an avid reader, books about history were her favorite. She was a passionate sports fan, and actively followed several NFL and NBA teams. Her neighbors could often hear her calling plays down the hall on game days. The Vikings and Lakers were her favorite teams. Norma also enjoyed "The Gaither Gospel Hour" and she would miss supper on Saturday nights to watch this. She enjoyed needlepoint, creating hundreds of beautiful pieces. She never stopped working on projects and was working on a project right up until the day she died. She loved her family and was devoted to her one and only son "Ray", they were very good to each other. She was reading in bed the night she died, laid her glasses on the night stand, went to sleep and woke up in heaven. How wonderful is that. She loved to talk to her children each week on the phone and would talk about what they were doing for hours. We had to be home in time to take those calls. Norma is survived by her children, Raymond W. Tryon of Spirit Lake, Joyce Marie Hendrickson of Fargo, North Dakota, Patricia Thomson (Russell) of Spirit Lake, Constance Ann Freeman of Pearl River, Louisiana, Becky Bea Naber (Paul) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Suzanne Rae Boles of Lakefield, Minnesota, Victoria P Nikrin (Terry) of Texas and Evelyn K Seever of Lindhurst, Illinois; nine step-children, her brothers and sisters, Justin Anderson (Marie) of Reedly, California, Berneva Schield of Park Rapids, Minnesota, Gwendolyn Pfundt (Dale) of Worthington, Minnesota and Terry Anderson (Trisha) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; 20 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond C. Tryon in 1965 and her husband, Floyd R. Boyer in 2001; two brothers, Ralph Anderson and Richard Anderson. She will be missed by all and it was a joy for all of us to help her in these final years.
