Obituary of Dolores Johnson

A funeral service for Dolores Johnson, 85 of Spirit Lake will be held at Turner Jenness Family Funeral Home, Spirit Lake on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. Interment will be at Lakeview Gardens Cemetery, Spirit Lake. Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 after 4:00 PM with the family present from 5:00-7:00 PM at Turner Jenness Family Funeral Home, Spirit Lake. Dolores Ann (Somers) Johnson was born February 17, 1930 on a farm in Osceola County to John and Flora Mae (Williams) Somers. She moved to the lakes area at a young age. Dolores graduated from Arnolds Park School, worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for ten years as an operator and service assistant to train other girls. Dolores married Don Johnson in May of 1955 in Lone Rock, Iowa (near Algona, Iowa) by Don's Lutheran minister, Reverend Geisler. To the marriage three children were born, Connie, Don Jr., and Doug. She worked at his folks' resort which they owned for forty seven years. Dolores enjoyed her six grandchildren, Jason Englert, Matthew Englert, Lance Englert, Katie (Chuck) Johnson Heins, Paul Johnson, April (Jake) Johnson Bosma and great grandson Kinnick Englert. Dolores loved the outdoors, watching birds and putting puzzles together. She also enjoyed playing solitaire and watching football, basketball and baseball. Dolores passed away March 2, 2015 at Mliford Nursing Center. Dolores is survived by her daughter, Connie, sons Don Jr. (Teresa) and Doug (Barb).
