Obituary of Marian Stanley

A funeral service for Marian Stanley, age 92, of Lake Park, will be held Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 10:30am at United Methodist Church in Lake Park. Burial will be at Silver Lake Cemetery in Lake Park. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church. Ruth Marian Stanley was born February 8, 1923 in Langdon, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Vina (Anderson) Dodge. She was born and raised on the family farm near Langdon, Iowa, graduating from Lake Center High School in 1940. Marian was united in marriage to Weber L. Stanley on September 10, 1941 in Sioux City, Iowa. The couple made their home in Hartley, Milford and Spencer before moving to Lake Park in 1970. Marian was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lake Park. In her youth, she was active in 4-H, as well as church youth groups. A committed homemaker, she loved taking care of her family. Marian passed away Sunday, May 31, 2015 at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer, Iowa, at ninety-two years of age. She is survived by her children, Raymond Stanley (Lois) of Emmetsburg, Iowa, Roger Stanley (Carolyn) of Marshalltown, Iowa, Barbara Mann (Joe) of Spencer, Iowa, Connie Sue Frazier of Roland, Oklahoma, and Larry Stanley (Deb) of Lake Park, Iowa. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; brother, Arnold Dodge (Ardyce); sister-in-law, Ruth Dodge; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Weber Stanley, brothers, Flavius and Arthur and two sisters-in-law, Marlene and Kiki. .
