Obituary of Marvis Marilyn Reed

A funeral service for Marvis Reed, age 90, of Spirit Lake, will be held Monday, August 3, 2015 at 2:00pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Spirit Lake. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, August 2nd from 2:00-4:00pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Marvis Marilyn Reed, the daughter of Faye (King) and Martin Meiners, was born May 24, 1925 in Ringsted, Iowa. After graduating from high school, she completed two years of Business College. On September 14, 1944, Marvis was united in marriage to Ronald Reed in Ringsted. Over the years, Marvis worked as the secretary for the Ringsted High School. After retirement, Marvis and Ronald moved to Spirit Lake. Marvis was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and the Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed golfing, playing bridge with friends and completing crossword puzzles. Marvis passed away Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong, Iowa at ninety years of age. She is survived by her sons, Ron (Terrie) Reed of Mankato, Minnesota, Rick Reed of Spirit Lake, Iowa and Randy Reed of Spirit Lake, Iowa; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; several other family and friends. Marvis is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ronald.
