Obituary of Fred Moriston

Services for Fred Moriston, 60, of Spirit Lake, will be 2 pm, Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Visitation will begin at 12:30 pm, until service time at the funeral home. Frederick Forrest Moriston, the son of Forrest and Dorothy (Watkins) Moriston, was born December 31, 1955 in Sioux City, Iowa. He had lived in Sioux Falls, Spirit Lake and the surrounding area his entire life. Fred was married to Cindy Thackrey and was later divorced. Fred enjoyed watching game shows, riding around the lake and sightseeing. Fred passed away December 31, 2015 at Sanford Jackson Hospital in Jackson, Minnesota at sixty years of age. He is survived by his sister, Cheryl Mager (Kenneth) of Buffalo, Minnesota; sister, Jackie Jenkins (Ron) of Milford, Iowa; brother, Clifford Moriston of Spirit Lake and brother, Keith Moriston (Roxann); son, Craig Thoreson of Hiawatha, Iowa; step-daughters, Tammy Henry of Ellsworth, Minnesota, Kimberly Thackrey (Kossron) of Ellsworth, Minnesota; step-grandchildren, Dustin Meyeraan, Devin and Dallas Mitchell, Mary and Blake Koffron; many nieces, nephews and friends. Fred was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Moriston; grandparents, Cliff and Alice Watkins; step-sons, Donald (John) Gaskins; step-granddaughter, Courtney Meyeraan; step-grandson, Cody Thackrey and nephew, Boe Moriston.
