Obituary of Ralph Angle
A funeral service for Ralph Angle, 89, of Spirit Lake, will be held Friday, February 5, 2016 at 2:00pm at United Methodist Church in Swea City. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Harrison Township Cemetery in Swea City.
Ralph Eugene Angle, the son of Harry and Fannie Angle, was born March 5, 1926 in Wesley, Iowa. He moved to Kossuth County, Iowa along with his parents and sisters, Delores, Evelyn and Lois Jean, in 1942.
On May 21, 1947, Ralph was united in marriage to Louetta Engstrom in Riceville, Iowa. They farmed in Grant and Eagle Townships until 1948 when they had a farm sale and moved to Fairmont, Minnesota. Ralph then worked for Haskins Motor Company in Fairmont until June, 1952 when he entered the United States Army during the Korean War. He served in Korea and Japan with the First Calvary Division and was honorably discharged on June 9, 1954.
They moved to Swea City in 1955 where Ralph continued farming on the Engstrom family farm. A nephew, Larry Woods, resided with them and attended Grant and Swea City Schools, graduating in 1959. Ralph was a member of the United Methodist Church and the VFW Post 1222 in Martin County. He enjoyed playing cards, dominos and going to casinos.
Ralph passed away February 1, 2016 at Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong, Iowa at eighty-nine years of age.
He is survived by his sisters, Jessie Harr of Brownville, Texas, Marion Hinders of Worthington, Minnesota and Lois Jean Mauris of Winnebago, Minnesota; nephew, Larry and Nancy Woods of Spirit Lake and several other nieces and nephews.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Louetta; seven sisters and two brothers.
