Obituary of Donna Nelson

Memorial services for Donna Nelson, 67, of Spencer and formerly of Milford, will be held at a later date. Donna Jean Nelson was born June 20, 1948 to Charles Ebel, Jr. and Meridith Ebel (Hicks) in Primghar, Iowa. In May, 1966, Donna married Phil Nelson from Sutherland, Iowa. To this union three children were born, Dawn, Ron & Todd. The light of Donna's life were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She always put everyone first, making her loved ones happy. Her gentle spirit and sense of humor made Donna a special person to all whom knew her. She will never be forgotten by anyone who had the privilege of meeting her. Donna passed away peacefully at home, as she wished, at the age of sixty-seven, following a courageous battle with cancer. Left to mourn her passing while cherishing memories are her children, Dawn Schroder (Tim Sheridan) of Fostoria, Iowa and Ron Nelson (Lisa) of Spirit Lake; granddaughters Jereca Schoder (Cody Brown), Makala Carrico (Josh Simcox) and Kaitlyn Nelson; great grandsons, Mason and Marshall Brown and Nolan Craig. She is also survived by her sisters, Sharon Steinbeck (Dennis) of Everly andMary Vandeberg (Howard) of Missouri; numerous cherished nieces, nephews, family and friends. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, son, Todd Nelson and great granddaughter Lettie Jean Brown. A sincere thank you to Donna's hospice nurse, Bethany and the entire hospice team.
