Obituary of Jean Carpenter

A funeral service for Jean Carpenter, age 73, of Milford, will be held Thursday, March 24, 2016 at 10:30AM at First Lutheran Church in West Okoboji. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer, Iowa. Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 23rd after 4:00pm with the family present from 5:00-7:00pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford. Jean Charlotte Carpenter, the daughter of Pete and Eileen (Kness) Forbes, was born April 28, 1942 in Harris, Iowa. After graduating from high school, she completed beauty school. On September 17, 1961, Jean was married to Jerry Carpenter in Jackson, Minnesota. After moving to Milford in 1977, Jean worked as a church secretary and also at a real estate office. She later became very involved with Carpenter Construction and some rental property which whey owned and operated. Jean loved to hang out at the lake house, gardening and simply driving around the lake. She enjoyed visiting with people and would always be there to help anyone. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren, especially at the lake home. Jean passed away March 20, 2016 at Spencer Hospital in Spencer, Iowa at seventy-three years of age. She is survived by her son, Duane Carpenter and his wife, Cathy; daughter, Shanae Carpenter; son, Shane Carpenter; sister, Prudy and her husband, Nick Hoch of Algona and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; son, Doug; sister, Joan; and her parents, Pete and Eileen.
