Clara Jo was granted her angel wings on March 30, 2016 after a long battle with cancer while she was a resident of Hawkeye Care Center in Spirit Lake, Iowa. She was born on February 18, 1931, the daughter of Edmund and Bessie (Watson) Hopkins. On September 27, 1970, she married the love of her life, Ronald Harnack, at the Little Brown Church. She and Ron lived in Sheldon for many years before retiring to Spirit Lake. They loved to travel and attend family reunions to visit with relatives and friends. They also enjoyed doing crafts and were quite crafty. Through her life, Clara worked as a nurse's aide and cook. After Ron passed away, she worked at Wal-Mart for many years. When she was hired she said she would like to either be in the garden department or a greeter. She was hired as a "garden greeter" and loved it. Clara was a member of the United Methodist Church in Arnolds Park and life member of VFW Auxiliary in Spirit Lake. She was a very kind and gentle soul, she had a loving and generous heart and was always giving to others. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Vickie (Roger) Werner of Spirit Lake, Iowa; granddaughters, Cara (Chris) Duncan and family of Milford, Iowa and Jodi Kennedy and family from Redland, California; granddaughter-in-law, Kellie Werner; great-granddaughter, Emily Werner; sisters, Mary Lou (Dalton) Hoover of Guthrie Center, Iowa and Donna (Dick) Treon of Bentonville, Arkansas; brother, Gary (Sally) Hopkins of New Mexico; sisters-in-law, Ria (Larry) Hopkins, Jean (Duane) Hopkins and Hazel Clark from Tucson, Arizona; many nieces and nephews.
