Obituary of Mary Schultz
A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milford. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Milford. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 18th after 4:00 PM with the family present from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford. There will be a Parish Rosary at 7:00pm at the funeral home.
Mary Ann Nichols was born August 31, 1932 in Wells, Minnesota, the daughter of Percy and Elfie (Littlefield) Nichols. She attended and graduated from school in Wells.
On April 10, 1951 Mary was united in marriage to Aloysius (Al) Schultz in Wells.
Mary and Al moved to Milford in 1954 and started their family. Mary was the head cook for St. Joseph Catholic School for many years. She began employment at Burgin's Cleaners in 1973 working on alterations. During her 37 years of employment she worked for Rod and Bonnie Simonson and Nyle and Lynn Dotson whom she loved and respected. Mary eventually owned her own alterations and notions business. She was a skillful and talented seamstress with many loyal clients who appreciated her perfectionism. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary, Catholic Daughters of America, Rosary Altar Society and Anne's Circle of St Joseph.
Mary and Al took great pleasure in taking trips all over the country on their motorcycle and in their motor home. They both loved to dance. They also enjoyed taking their young family on many great camping vacations. She loved to have all her family gathered together playing games and laughing.
After retiring in 2010, Mary and Al moved to the Highlands in Spencer. Her new friends at the Highlands were a great source of enjoyment. She never missed her morning coffee hour or any chance to join an activity. She stayed active playing bridge, learning Mahjong, crocheting, solving puzzles and watching the wild birds.
Mary passed away May 14, 2016 at Highlands in Spencer, Iowa.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Jan (Tim) Edmondson of Spencer IA, Julie (Roger) Smart of Hot Springs, AR., Jim and Andrea Schultz of Hot Springs, AR., Jean (Chris) Mugge of Spirit Lake, IA., Grandchildren, Brooke Brown of Hot Springs, AR., Megan (Daniel) Kelsey of Fayetteville, AR., Cortney Schultz of Boston, MA., Paul Clark and Alexandra Clark of Hot Springs, AR., and her two great- granddaughters, Faith and Emma Brown.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and her five brothers and sister.
