Obituary of Bea Wilson
Bea Wilson was born on July 2, 1927 in Jackson, Minnesota to Albert and Lena Albertson. Her family moved to Spirit Lake a few years later where she attended Beauty School in Mason City, Iowa, graduating in 1950. She worked in Ocheyedan and Spencer for a few years. Then she opened her own shop in Spirit Lake in a few locations until she moved into her big three operator shop under the old Antler's Hotel Building. She did lots of perms and haircuts and made many good friends here.
Bea moved her shop to her home in 1976 where she was until she retired in 2002 after being in business for fifty-two years. After retirement, her health got worse. She had a pacemaker placed in 2003 and a stint in her heart in 2010. She always had severe arthritis and was in a wheelchair for the last three years.
Bea was always a good cook and loved sharing recipes with family and friends. She was always reading and watching food shows on TV. She loved having a garden and flowers in her life. She also knew just about every bird that came to our feeders. She loved the Blue Jays and Cardinal pair that came. Her winter and summer days were spent watching them.
She also loved our miniature Schnauzer "Snickers". They spent many a happy hour together. Bea also loved reading books and magazines. She read the paper from cover to cover, following all the world news and politics. Her daughter Cindy was her caregiver for the last ten years. Bea was in hospice care at Hilltop from February 26, 2013 until she died on March 27, 2013 at eighty-five years of age.
Survivors include her daughter, Cindy Wilson of Spirit Lake, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, seven sisters, one brother, two nieces and one nephew.
She will be missed by all for her loving nature and warm smile. You will always be "My Sunshine" Mom.
