Obituary of Norma Grave

A visitation for Norma Grave, age 84, of Lake Park, will be held Thursday, August 18th from 3:00-5:00pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Lake Park. Ethel "Norma" Jean Grave was born April 16, 1932 in Rock Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of John and Bertha (Kruger) Van Briesen. The family made their home near George, Iowa, where Norma attended school. Norma was united in marriage to Virgil Grave on March 7, 1953. The couple made their home in Lake Park, where they raised their children, Roxanne and Kraig. An amazing wife and mother, Norma also worked as a waitress, was the soda jerk attendant at Lake Park Drug Store, and was a cook for the Harris Lake Park School as well as the Lake Park Care Center. She loved reading, puzzles, dancing and cherished times spent with family and friends. Norma passed away Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Lake Park Care Center in Lake Park at eighty-four years of age. She is survived by her husband, Virgil, of Lake Park; children Roxanne Bohlke and her husband Daniel of Iowa City, Iowa; Kraig Grave of Brewster, Minnesota; grandchildren Allison Bohlke and her fiancé,Alex Henningsen of Des Moines, Iowa, Jackie Grave of Lake Park and Jessica Grave of Windom, Minnesota; great granddaughter, Tavia Brink; special friends, Carol and Charlie Rowe; siblings, Lowell Van Briesen, Dennis Van Briesen and Randy Van Briesen; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter Megan Bohlke, and siblings, Dwayne Van Briesen and Beverly Koltoff.
