Obituary of Karlene Morrow

A visitation for Karlene Morrow, age 76, of Spirit Lake, was held Friday, October 14, 2016 with viewing beginning at 5:00pm with the family present from 5:00-7:00pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Karlene Mildred Morrow was born June 2, 1940, in Lake Park, Iowa, the daughter of Claud and Mildred (Evans) Kladstrup. She was raised and educated in Lake Park, graduating from Lake Park High School in 1958. Following high school, Karlene attended beauty school. Karlene was united in marriage to Leland Morrow on February 15, 1959. The couple made their home in Sioux Valley, Minnesota, until moving to Spirit Lake in 1963, where they raised their children Cory, Todd and Scott. Karlene started working part-time as a dispatcher for Dickinson County Communication Center in 1984. In 1995, she began working full time until her retirement in 2006. Karlene enjoyed oil painting, baking, flower gardening, crocheting, and shell hunting. Her true passions were traveling, bird watching, reading and spending time with her family and friends. Karlene passed away Sunday, October 9, 2016 at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake at seventy-six years of age. Left to cherish her memory are her sons; Cory Morrow of Salida, Colorado, Todd Morrow of Spirit Lake, Iowa and Scott Morrow of Spirit Lake, Iowa; grandchildren, Melissa, Mark, Bryan, Caitlyn, Kinsey, and Hayley Morrow; great grandchildren; Baylee, Marley and Molly. Karlene was preceded in death by her mother and father, Claud and Mildred Kladstrup and her husband Leland Morrow. Karlene lived a happy life and will be missed dearly.
