Obituary of Joan Woodley

Joan Mae Woodley was born February 5, 1929 in Waukon, Iowa to Joseph and Julia (Colsch) Henry. She graduated from high school and married Delmer Woodley on May 2, 1951 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They lived in Fort Dodge, Spencer and Arnolds Park since 1966. Joan worked at their summer mobile home resort. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. Joan's family and friends were the most important people in her life. She also enjoyed managing her and her husband's business together for forty-seven years. Joan loved the lakes area, loved music, movies, the theater and reading. She had a great love of life! Joan passed away in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on July 18, 2013 at eighty-four years old. Joan is survived by her daughters, Julie (Richard) Dirks of Arnolds Park, Iowa, Joni Woodley-Armstrong of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; son, Larry (Arlene) Woodley of Fox Island, Washington; grandchildren, Sarah and Emily Dirks, Ashli, Alexis and Alicia Armstrong, David, Travis and Kayla Woodley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delmer, their son, Ronnie, parents, Joseph and Julia, brother, Reuben, and sister Rachael. Services: 10:30 am, Thursday, July 25, 2013 at United Methodist Church in Spirit Lake. Visitation: One hour prior to service time at the church. Interment: Northlawn Cemetery in Spencer.
