Obituary of Terry Matthiesen

Funeral services for Terry Matthiesen, 54, of Spirit Lake and formerly of Hartley, will be held at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake on Friday, December 30, 2016 at 10:30 am. Burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery in Hartley, Iowa. A visitation will be held Thursday, December 29, 2016 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake, Iowa Terry Alan Matthiesen was born on August 1, 1962 in Hartley, Iowa, the son of Lois (Rommel) and Delbert Matthiesen. Terry graduated from Hartley High School in 1981. Terry lived on a farm near Hartley and spent many weekends in the Lakes area while growing up. The family moved to Spirit Lake in 1987 where Terry worked in lawn care and snow removal. He enjoyed fishing, reading and visiting with friends. Terry was an avid Hawkeye fan and enjoyed attending and watching athletic events. Terry passed away on December 24, 2016 at his home in Spirit Lake, Iowa at fifty-four years of age. He is survived by several cousins and many friends. Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Lois Matthiesen; grandparents, Alfred and Lizzie Matthiesen and Jesse and Ella Rommel.
