Obituary of Marvin Simonson
Marvin Edward Simonson, the son of Martha (Sauer) and Edward Simonson, was born July 20, 1921 in Lake View, Iowa. After graduating from Lake View High School, Marvin attended Bradley Tech in Peoria, Illinois.
After graduating from Bradley Tech, Marvin accepted a position with a jewelry store in Saginaw, Michigan which is where he met Ruth Delude. Marvin and Ruth were united in marriage on September 24, 1941.
Marvin served his country in the United States Army, serving during WW II. After his discharge, Marvin opened a jewelry store in Lake View, Iowa and later a second store in Battle Creek, Iowa. In 1950, he went to work for Spencer Block and Tile and in 1952, Marvin formed a partnership with Milford Block and Tile which later became Lakes Concrete Industries. In 1967, Marvin joined Lakes National Bank in Arnolds Park until his retirement. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing cards and being with his family.
Marvin passed away January 14, 2017 at the Hawkeye Care Center in Milford, Iowa at ninety-five years of age.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Ruth Simonson of Milford; son, Terry Simonson of Quito, Ecuador; son, Mark Simonson of Sun City, Arizona; son, Kent Simonson of Milford and Rod (Bonnie) Simonson of Milford; granddaughters, Shelley Simonson, Staci (Charles) Augustine and Maggie Simonson; grandson, Maxwell (Kaila) Simonson; great-granddaughter, Payton Augustine and great-grandson, Nick Augustine.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Martha Simonson; sister, Hazel Gosch; brother-in-law, Chris Gosch and daughter-in-law, Linda Simonson.
