Obituary of Denny Sill
Dennis (Denny) Chester Sill, 72, of Spirit Lake Iowa, son of Chester and Sarah Sill, died Sunday February 19th at home surrounded by family. Services will be held Saturday, February 25, 2017, at 1 pm at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Spirit Lake. Visitation will begin at 11 am, Saturday, until service time at the church.
Denny graduated from LuVerne High School in 1962, attended mechanical school in Omaha then joined the Army National Guard which he served for ten years. Denny was united in marriage to Beverly (Besch) Sill on November 12th 1966. Born to this union were Gina (Sill) Cerny and Christopher Sill. Following his marriage to Beverly they started their life together in Algona Iowa where Denny worked for John Deere both in Algona and Titonka. In 1984 Denny and Bev continued their adventures by moving to Spirit Lake, Iowa where they bought and ran Jakes Pizza until they opened Sillbilly's in 1988. After twelve years they sold Sillbilly's and Denny, not being able to sit still, went to work part time for Berg Construction and Landscaping. During the summer months Denny also worked for the county as the Weed Commissioner. Denny finished out his life doing handyman services for many old and new friends in the area while working for Dickinson County Mutual Insurance doing home inspections.
During Denny's spare time he enjoyed working in his garden growing the ingredients for his other hobby cooking for his family and friends. Denny also enjoyed his annual trip to Marco Island Florida to enjoy friends and warm weather.
Denny is survived by his wife Beverly of 50 years. Two children Gina (Brian) Cerny and Christopher (Amy) Sill. Grandchildren, Paige (Allan) Bovenmyer, Chaz (Andrea) Dean, Ciera Cerny, Marissa and Logan Sill. Great Grandchildren, Kataleya and Aeralyn Bovenmyer, Payton, Zayden and Jaxston Dean. One Sister, Janyce Mittag and one brother, Jerry (Pat) Sill. Brother-in-law Bob (Carol) Besch, sister-in-law Mary (Paul) Romberg, brother-in-law Dave Kollasch and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death were his aforementioned parents, father and mother-in-law James and Helen Besch, sister-in-law Betty Kollasch, brother-in-law Robert Mittag, niece Robin Folkerts and nephew Nick Kollasch.
