Obituary of Gary Ralph Griffith

Mr. Griffith passed away August 12, 2013 in Fort Dodge, Iowa, at seventy eight years old. Service: Friday, August 16, 2013, at 1:30 pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford, Iowa Interment: Okoboji Cemetery, Arnolds Park, Iowa Gary Ralph Griffith was born August 23, 1934, at Woodbine, Iowa. He attended grade school in Woodbine until the family moved to Logan, Iowa. He graduated from Logan High school in 1952. Gary was an avid musician, starting piano lessons prior to grade school, and took an active part in the High School Music program. Upon graduation, Gary worked in Omaha for the Gray Hound Bus Company until entering the Service. He enlisted in the Air Force in December 1956, and served four years with the Air Force Band. After the Service he returned to the Omaha, Nebraska area, working for several companies until his retirement from Sears at age of 65. Gary was single. Since January of 2007 he has lived in an assisted living home due to Alzheimer's disease and dementia. He passed away early in the morning of August 12, 2013, at the age of 78. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Ralph and Gertrude Griffith. Gary is survived by his brother Don and his wife Lavonne ,and their children, Julie Engelsman and her family,of Omaha, Nebraska, and Mike Griffith and his family of Webster City, Iowa, and many relatives and friends.
