Obituary of Phyllis Decker
A graveside service for Phyllis Decker, age 86, of Sioux Rapids, will be held Friday, September 1, 2017 at 1:30 PM at the Milford Cemetery.
Phyllis Arlene Decker was born April 12, 1931, the daughter of Cecil and Louise (La Lone) Young in Woodbine, Iowa. The family moved to Milford, where Phyllis graduated from Okoboji High School.
Phyllis was married to Raymond Stevens in 1949 until 1963. To this union three children were born, Diana, William and Linda. In 1972, She met the love of her life, Bernard R. "Bud" Decker. The couple was married in 1973 and remained married until his passing in 1983.
Phyllis was baptized January 1, 1950 at Union Memorial Church in Milford. In later years, she attended First Christian Church in Spencer, Iowa. Phyllis had many interests. She loved and collected antique furniture and dishes. In later years, she had an eye for hummingbird statuary. Christmas always held a special place in her heart. When combined with her love of family, the holidays were always extraordinary.
Phyllis passed away Monday, August 28, 2017 at Hawkeye Care Center in Sioux Rapids, Iowa at eighty-six years of age.
She is survived by her children, Diana Stevens and William Stevens; brother, Larry (Linda) Young; granddaughter, Cassandra (Larry); grandson, Wesley (Krystal) Stevens; four great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are son-in-law, James Moore; nieces, nephews and other family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bud Decker and daughter Linda Moore.
