Obituary of Calvin Tuttle
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Pearson Lakes Art Center from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Calvin was a very loving person. He was born on December 17, 1973 in Fort Sill, Oklahoma and is the son of Margie and Earl Tuttle. In 1974, his family moved to Milford, Iowa where he lived the remaining of this life until he passed suddenly on September 1, 2017 at the age of 43.
Calvin had a deep love of learning. During his time in the Lakes Area he continued to achieve a Bachelor of Arts Degree with honors, summa cum laude, from Buena Vista University. Between degrees, Calvin had an internship through CAASA (Centers Against Abuse and Sexual Assault) in Spencer. When he started at CAASA he was the first male to work at the facilities, helping women and children who had suffered abuse from the hands of others. Later he continued his education at Augsburg in Minneapolis, Minnesota to get a masters degree in social sciences. With his degree, he became a Licensed Master of Social Work and was employed as a social worker for Sanford Hospice of Worthington, Windom and Jackson. Before Sanford he had worked as a social worker for Gentiva of Spirit Lake. He loved comforting others and bringing them peace in their final months, weeks, days or hours. He was very good at his job and had found his calling in life.
Because of Calvin's love for learning new things, he had many hobbies in many different areas of life. His foremost favorite way to spend his time was by spending it with others, including family, friends and his co-workers. He was always able to brighten a room and put a smile on anyone that was upset. When Calvin wasn't spending time with loved ones, he was out doing other hobbies he had such as going to the gym, listening to music and watching movies. He was also known for having several collections such as his cigars and at times was looking for even more to begin. Calvin was also gifted with a green thumb; he loved plants, learning about them and growing his own. When he was younger, he enjoyed gardening and golf.
He is survived by Gage A. Tuttle (son), Margie G. Tuttle (mother), Earl Tuttle (father), Thad A. Tuttle (brother), Jessica Tuttle (sister-in-law), Jacob Dooley (nephew), Wyatt Tuttle (nephew) and William Tuttle (nephew).
He was preceded in death by Willie and Rita Poss (grandparents), Dave Poss (uncle), Leland Poss (uncle), Anthony Poss (uncle), Bob Tuttle (grandpa), Bobby D. Tuttle (uncle), Melissa Jo (cousin), Bettie Stueland (great-grandma).
