Obituary of Merle Hartman

A funeral service for Merle Hartman, age 55, of Milford, will be held Friday, September 22, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Union Memorial Church in Milford. Burial will be at Okoboji Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, September 21st after 5:00 PM with the family present from 5:00-7:00 PM at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford. Merle Glen Hartman, the son of Chester and Wanda (Mansfield) Hartman, was born November 27, 1961 in Spirit Lake, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Milford, Iowa. On December 17, 1996, Merle was united in marriage to Janice Strayer Hartman. He farmed his entire life in the Milford area and also enjoyed hunting, fishing and his chickens. He had a love for dogs and shooting guns, an activity he especially enjoyed with the grandkids. Merle passed away September 16, 2017 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota at fifty-five years of age. He is survived by his wife, Janice Hartman; daughter, Janet Helmick (James) and her children, Cody Strayer, Matt Strayer, Madison Studer and Caleb Studer; daughter, Jeannie Buss and her daughter, Devan Demory; daughter, Cary Buss and her children, Lacy Wait, Dakota Wait and Dylon Wait; and five great-grandchildren.
