Obituary of Karen Roseberry
There will be a Celebration of Life service for Karen Roseberry, age 76, of May City, on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 3:00 PM followed by a memorial gathering until 5:00 PM at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford.
Karen Janelle (Horak) Roseberry was born January 7, 1941 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She passed away Thursday September 21, 2017 at Pearl Valley Nursing home in Lake Park, Iowa. She was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) more than three years.
Anyone who knew her knows that she loved everybody. She helped anyone who needed it. She always saw the cup half full. She took in strays, animal or human, without a second thought. She will be remembered for her smile and laughter. She fought her disease with unending courage. She lost her voice some time ago but was able to use her writing board and text messages to express her optimism and sense of humor. Despite her fight, the disease ultimately wore her down. Karen's passing will leave a huge void in the lives of her family and friends.
Karen lived in Fort Dodge, Arnolds Park, Milford, Topeka, Kansas, and May City. She was a hairdresser, childcare provider, and house cleaner.
Karen is survived by her children Barry Elmore of Dallas, TX, Clista Seals and husband Steve of Topeka, KS, and Dan Hinrichs of May City, IA; Jim Linn her longtime companion and their dog, Patches, of May City; and his family Rodger and Kristy Linn of Milford, and Rodney Linn of May City. Her grandchildren were Kyle, Eric, and Turner Seals; Kasandra and Amanda Hinrichs; and Brody, Brandon and Courtney Linn. She is also survived by her sister Joanne (Ernie) Bowman of Clare, IA; and brother, Kenneth (Joanne) Horak of California. Preceding her in death is her son, Terry Joe Hinrichs, and her parents, Velma and Ed Horak.
