Obituary of Dwayne E. Kraninger

Funeral services for Dwayne Kraninger, 86, of Milford, will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at First Lutheran Church in West Okoboji. Interment will be at Harrison Township Cemetery near May City, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 5 pm, Monday, April 2, 2018, with the family present from 5-7 pm, at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford. Dwayne Edward Kraninger, the son of Eunice (Netsch) and Edward Kraninger, was born May 15, 1931 in Harrison County near Woodbine, Iowa. When he was twelve years of age, the family moved to Mallard, Iowa where Dwayne attended Mallard School and helped his parents with farming. They later moved to May City where they continued farming. On February 17, 1952, Dwayne married the love of his life, Ella Marie Boernsen, at St. John Lutheran Church in May City. They were blessed with five children, Marietta, Eldon Lee, James Edward, Johnny Joe and Carolyn Kay. The family moved to a farm west of Milford where Dwayne farmed as well as worked at Honey Bee Co. in Everly, Iowa for eighteen years, bailed hay for Macky Swanson, washed trucks for Ruan and worked at Coca Cola in Spirit Lake. Dwayne enjoyed baseball in his earlier years as well as golf and bowling later in life. He bowled with a group of friends in 1962 at the American Bowling Congress in Des Moines as well as many tournaments. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and dancing. Dwayne passed away March 28, 2018 at Accura Healthcare in Milford at eighty-six years of age. He is survived by his daughter, Marietta and her four sons, Steve (Pam), Makala and Devon, Chris (Justina), Reid, KeyAnna and Xavier, Kent (Beth), Ashlyn, Madilynn, Kerryn and Connor, Keith (Amanda), Evan and Kenadee; son, Eldon (Mary) Kraninger and their sons, Adam (Jenn), Kristina, Kaitlyn and Kaillie, Brent (Arielle); son, John Kraninger; son, James (Lisa) Kraninger and their children, Dakota (Jenn), Landon, Colby (Montana), Tabatha Schilling and her son, Maddox; daughter, Carolyn (Ray) Gutherie and their sons, Ben Jones and Tyler Guthrie; two sisters, Lois Rose and Donna Struchen; one sister-in-law, Phylis Stap; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Dwayne was preceded in death by his wife, Ella; parents and grandparents; Gary Howard, Jens Wertz, Jo Wertz, JoAnn Stap, Bill Stap, Claudia Adams, Leonard and Ruth Adams and Pat Baumgartens.
