Obituary of Elizabeth Giefer
Elizabeth Maxine Giefer was born November 4, 1924 in Salem, South Dakota, the daughter of Fred and Florence (Gill) Roling.
On August 23, 1952, Elizabeth was united in marriage to Edward Charles Giefer in Madison, South Dakota. She lived in Salem, Jackson and the Twin Cities before moving to the Iowa Great Lakes Region in 1984. Elizabeth worked as a teacher for many years.
Elizabeth was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Spirit Lake, the Arpoki Club and the Lakes Regional Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed antiques, traveling, golfing, volunteering and spending time with her family.
Elizabeth passed away January 31, 2012 at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake at eighty-seven years of age.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Mayer-Gotreau; son-in-law, Thomas Gotreau; grandson, John Mayer; granddaughter, Anna Mayer; great-granddaughter, Alivia Farrell; sister, Jean Bargfrede; niece, Beth Bargfrede; nephew, Scott Bargfrede and his wife, Terri and their family; numerous nephews and nieces and several friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ed; sister, Marceline Olinger.
