Obituary of Vernon Puck

A funeral service for Vernon Puck, age 85, of Lakefield, MN and formerly of Sioux Valley, MN, will be held Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sioux Valley, MN. Burial will be at Sioux Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, July 6th after 5:00pm with the family present from 5:00-7:00pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Vernon LeRoy Puck, son of Julius and Luverna (Timm) Puck was born December 29, 1932 in Sioux Valley Township, Jackson County, Minnesota. He was raised on the family farm and graduated from Sioux Valley High School in 1950. Vernon entered the US Army in 1953, where he was stationed in Texas for a year, followed by a year in Korea, until he received an Honorable Discharge in 1955. Vernon was united in marriage to Lavonne Place on November 1, 1956 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sioux Valley. The couple made their home in Sioux Valley where they farmed and raised their family until moving to Lakefield Minnesota in 2017. Vernon was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sioux Valley where he held many offices. He was also a member of the Sioux Valley American Legion for over sixty years. He loved the farm and loved spending time with family, grandchildren, great grandchildren & many friends. Vernon passed away Monday, July 2, 2018 at Good Samaritan Society in Windom, MN at eighty-five years of age. He is survived by his wife Lavonne; children Sharon Kazemba (Doug) of Yankton, SD, Roger Puck (Bonnie) of Sioux Valley, MN and Gail Post (Terry) of Lakefield, MN. Grandchildren Brett (Amanda) Kazemba, Justin Kazemba, Kelsey Vanoverschelde (Kent), Kristin Puck & Jeremy Scherer, Kim Puck & Josh Kemner; Great Grandchildren: Joseph, Lauren & Stratton Vanoverschelde, Kasen, Greyer & Kadence Kazemba & Austin Kemner. He is also survived by his brother Arlo Puck (Lois), Sister in Law Marylis Prahl (Fred) as well as several nieces & nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Julius & Luverna and an infant brother, Marvin.
