Obituary of Barbara Mae Rohlf
Barbara Mae Rohlf left this earth on July 2, 2018 at the age of 87 and now boards that big cruise ship in the sky after a very active and fulfilling life.
Barbara was born and raised on a farm near Ferris, Illinois, the oldest of five children of Phines and Lela Murphy. She attended and graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in home economics. While attending the university, she was a proud member and lived in the 4-H House where she made many special lifelong friends. After receiving her degree, she started an advanced degree at Iowa State University where she met and later married Marvin Eugene Rohlf.
Barbara and Marvin moved to Estherville, Iowa where Barbara taught home economics for a few years in Gruver, Iowa. She served on the Estherville School Board and celebrated 62 anniversaries with Marvin.
Barbara's passions were cooking, traveling, sewing, cruising, and most of all spending time with family and friends. Having been a mother of five boys, she is qualified for sainthood, was an expert in discipline and has proven she had the mental toughness of a marine. She has earned the peace and quiet she now enjoys.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, and her parents. She is survived by five sons, Scott, Craig, Steve, Tim and Paul; nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. A private family burial will be held.
Barbara is forever alive and loved in the memories of those that shared her life. Godspeed Mom.
