Obituary of Shannon Aeikens Jones

A funeral service for Shannon Aeikens Jones, age 42, of Spirit Lake, will be held Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Spirit Lake. A visitation will be on Monday, September 3rd from 5:00-7:00pm at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. Shannon Marie Aeikens Jones, the daughter of Patricia (Owens) and Glenn Aeikens, was born May 19, 1976 in Spirit Lake, Iowa. She always loved and was proud to share her birthday with her sister, Kayla. After graduating from high school, Shannon received her Associates Degree and had recently completed her Paralegal License. In 2008, Shannon was married to Brad Jones in Spirit Lake. Shannon's greatest joy were her two sons, LeNear and Max. She was a proud supporter of the Spirit Lake Indian Athletics and Music Departments and always enjoyed watching her sons in sporting events. Shannon was known to yell, scream, show her excitement and sometimes even embarrass her kids. She was very devoted to her sons, always working hard to support them. She cherished her time walking the track with Max and her long talks with LeNear. She also enjoyed watching Ghost Adventures, playing tennis, playing with and attending nieces and nephews events, spending time with family and friends and was active in Relay for Life. She was known for her singing in the shower, jamming to music in her car and her love for shopping, especially shoes. Shannon is survived by her two sons, LeNear Douglas (his girlfriend, Katherin Ihnen) and Maximus Jones; parents, Glenn and Patricia Aeikens; three sisters, Amanda Bitterman (husband, Rick) and their daughter, Charlotte, Melissa Dreyer (her husband, Nathan) and their children Lucas and Lucy and Kayla Aeikens (her boyfriend, Jacob Shaw); numerous other family members and many friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Alferd and Annie Aeikens and Cliff and Loretta Owens.
