Obituary of Irving Bockman

Irving John Bockman and his twin sister, Irene Gosch, were born to Bill and Martha Bockman on January 26, 1921, in Yorktown, Iowa. The family moved to Dickinson County in his youth, and he has resided in the area his entire life. Irving entered the US Army Air Corps on February 8, 1943, serving in the Pacific Theater of Operations during World War II as a pilot in The Flying Sergeants. Upon receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1945, Irving came home to assist on the farm and do his special ability in raising cattle. Irving married Anita Benit in 1970 and built a home on the Harbor. He continued with the cattle business west of Milford. He and Anita lived a blessed life and were members of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake, where he served as president of the congregation for a time. Irving is survived by his wife, Anita; twin sister, Irene; brother, Herbert and his wife, Betty; several nieces, nephews and friends. Preceding him in death were his brother, Bill and his wives Inez and Betty; brother, Art and his wife, Shirley; and brother-in-law, John Gosch.
