Obituary of Viola Lohrmann
A funeral service for Viola Lohrmann, age 99, of Milford, will be held Friday, November 2, 2018 at 11:00 AM at First Lutheran Church in West Okoboji. Burial will be at Lone Tree Cemetery in Everly. Visitation will be on Thursday, November 1st from 5:00-7:00pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford.
Viola Elnora Lohrmann, the daughter of Amelia (Hoeppner) and John Henry Holst, was born April 11, 1919 in Petersen, Iowa. She graduated as valedictorian from Everly High School in 1936 and later graduated cum laude from Buena Vista College.
On June 8, 1939, Viola was married to Orie Lohrmann at Hope Lutheran Church in Everly. Viola taught country school after graduating high school until her daughter was born. She later returned to teaching and taught elementary school at Everly and at Harris-Lake Park for many years and was much loved by her students. She retired in Lake Park, and with her husband, traveled the U.S. and wintered in Texas making many memories. In their later years they moved to Milford.
Viola enjoyed her students, ballroom dancing with her husband, socializing, card games, reading, and playing scrabble with her daughter. Always the classy lady with a positive outlook, she cherished the time she spent with family and friends and would seldom forget a name or face.
Viola passed away October 26, 2018 at Accura Healthcare in Milford at ninety-nine years of age.
She is survived by her grandson and his wife, Mike and Jolene Trebbien, and their sons, Kyle and Leo; along with many relatives and friends.
Viola was preceded in death by her husband, Orie; daughter, Mary Jo; infant daughter, Jane Ellen; her parents; one sister and five brothers.
After nearly a century of brightening others lives, she is now at rest. She will be missed.
