Obituary of Dale D. Cooklin

Dale Darwin Cooklin was born on March 1, 1928, to Herman and Effie Cooklin at Estherville, Iowa. Dale was raised and educated in Estherville. In May of 1945, he entered the US Navy, serving as a Seaman 1st Class during World War II. Dale received his Honorable Discharge on August 23, 1946. On June 10, 1950, Dale was united in marriage to Norma Miller in Estherville, Iowa. The couple made their home in Estherville, Iowa, Fort Dodge, Iowa and Omaha, Nebraska, before moving to Spirit Lake, where they have resided for the past thirty years. Dale was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake, where he served as an usher. He enjoyed playing pool, the outdoors ~ especially fishing and camping. Dale loved horses and tractors and was an avid Dallas Cowboy's fan. He also enjoyed time with his coffee buddies. Dale enjoyed a long career as a truck driver for PIE. Dale is survived by his wife Norma; daughter, Vickie (John) Small; and son, Larry (Janice) Cooklin. He is also survived by six grandchildren, seven great-grand children, and one great-great-grandchild; brother, Herman Cooklin; several nieces, nephews and many friends. Preceding Dale in death were his parents, sister, DeLilah Christenson and brothers, Marvin, Bert, and Max Cooklin.
