Obituary of Ann Lilian Angell

There will be no formal services for Ann Angell, age 96, of Spirit Lake. Ann Lilian Angell was born to Rosaline and Alfred John Angell on July 20, 1922, in Bath, England. She attended and graduated from Kingsmead School and also graduated from Weymouth House School. At the onset of World War II, she worked for the British Admiralty, whose offices were moved to Bath from London, as it was considered to be a safe area. As a youth, she was confirmed at the Bath Abbey, in Bath, England in September 1945. She was united in marriage to Howard Lincoln Morphew of Sibley, Iowa while he was stationed in England serving the United States Army. They were married at the Bath Abbey in Bath and she became what was known as a War Bride. They were joined as husband and wife by the Venerable Marshall Selwyn-Archdeacon of Bath on September 15, 1946. After several months, Ann joined Howard in the United States in the Dairy Farming Business, having farms in both Iowa and Minnesota. Ann was a member of the Spirit Lake Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved her flower gardens in the summer when she was on the farm, enjoyed knitting and loved to crochet. Ann passed away January 30, 2019 at Accura Healthcare in Spirit Lake at ninety-six years of age. She is survived by her son, Larry Morphew (wife, Nancy) of Grasston, Minnesota; six grandchildren, Tammy Morphew of Isanti, Minnesota, Tanya Morphew of Forreston, Minnesota, Shane Morphew of Grasston, Minnesota, Jill Krogh of Rhinelander, Wisconsin, Brian Morphew of Denver, Co, Troy Gedmann of Cottage Grove, Minnesota, Larry McCundy of Braham, Minnesota; three great-grandchildren Logan Lindgren Rylee Morphew and Tyler Krogh; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Many were helpful and comforting to Ann over the past several years, including her nephew, Michael Pittman of Dorset, England and cousins, Fran Tegtemeier (Hans Sr.) and their son Hans Tegtemeier, Jr., Stacy and Lara Tegtemeir of Spirit Lake, Iowa. Ann was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Carol Ann McCurdy; three sisters, Bette Bridle and Doreen Billet of Bath, England and Eileen De Voll of Spirit Lake; one brother, John of Bath, England
