Sharon Nadine Singer passed away on February 22, 2019 at New Hope Village in Carroll, Iowa. Sharon was born August 3, 1941 in Spirit Lake, Iowa, the daughter of Maurice and Alta Mae Singer. She spent most of her childhood in Spirit Lake, graduating from Spirit Lake High School in 1959. She attended 3 years of college at the University of Iowa and Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa.
Her life was abruptly changed when she suffered a brain injury in a car accident in 1962. After that, she spent a number of years at Handicap Village in Clear Lake, Iowa. In 1990, she moved to New Hope Village in Carroll, Iowa, where she received such loving care. She enjoyed the activities and social outings that New Hope provided. She also loved listening to books on tape and watching the Hallmark Channel.
Sharon brought joy to so many people, lighting up a room with her smile. She had a special rapport with the staff at New Hope, often being referred to as, "Queen Bee." There was a lot of teasing going back and forth, and Sharon was rightfully accused of flirting with male staff members.
Sharon never lost her sense of humor, known to one of the staff members as having an ornery sense of humor.
She is survived by her sister, Carolyn (Mick) Maloney of Spearfish, South Dakota; sister-in-law, Jackie Singer of Clarksville, Missouri; brother-in-law, Charles Fancher of Kansasville, Wisconsin; four nephews, five nieces, numerous great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Luella Fancher; brother, Dallas Singer; great-nieces, Maryn Dallas Chapman and Caitlin Fancher; and great-nephew, Rodney Bergauer.
