Obituary of Ella Marie Kraninger

Ella Marie (Boernsen) Kraninger was born April 7, 1933 in Hartley, Iowa, the daughter of Mary (Recher) and William Boernsen. She was baptized on May 17, 1933 and confirmed on May 25, 1947 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in May City. On February 17, 1952, Ella was united in marriage to Dwayne Edward Kraninger at St Johns Lutheran Church. They farmed and lived in the May City area including a farm nine miles west and one and a half miles south, in Milford and the canals at Millers Bay in Wahpeton. Ella worked as a seamstress at Stylecraft Furniture for thirty-seven years. She loved to bowl and enjoyed gardening, landscaping and flowers. One of her greatest joys was cooking and having large family meals. She enjoyed decorating her home, canning, making jelly and jams and shopping. Ella was also very active in the First Lutheran Church in West Okoboji and enjoyed decorating the church for Christmas for many years. Ella was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in September 2013 after she fractured her vertebrae. She entered eternal life on October 24, 2013 at Spencer Municipal Hospital in Spencer, Iowa at eighty years of age. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Dwayne of Milford; her son, Eldon (Mary) Kraninger of Milford and their two sons, Adam (Jenn) Kraninger (and their daughters, Kristina, Kaitlyn and Kallie) and Brent Kraninger; son, James (Lisa) Kraninger of Milford and their three children, Dakota, Colby Kraninger and Tabatha Schilling (and her son, Maddox); son, John Kraninger of Milford; daughter, Carolyn Jones (and special friend, Ray Guthrie) of Milford, and her son, Ben (Chelsea) Jones; daughter, Marietta McCormick of Greene, Iowa and her four sons, Steve (Jan) McCormick and Lindsey Pohlman (and grandson, Heath Weiderkooft), Chris (Sheila) McCormick and their son, Reid McCormick, Kent (Beth) McCormick and their daughters, Ashlyn Bollin, Madelynn McCormick and Kerryn Weipert and Connor Weipert, and Keith (Amanda) McCormick (and their children Evan and Kennadee). Precious to her were her two sisters, Phylis Stap of May City and Ruth Adams of Hartley, Iowa as well as several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Boernsen in 1982 and Mary Recher Boernsen in 1999; four loved nieces, Pat Baumgarten, Claudia Adams, JoAnn Stap and Jeanne Werts and one nephew, Gary Howard.
