Obituary of William Bolt

William John Bolt was born March 3, 1918 in Breckenridge, Minnesota, the son of John and Edith (Hancock) Bolt. William was raised and educated in Dinsdale, Iowa. Following graduation, William attended Iowa State Teacher's College (University of Northern Iowa) on a basketball and baseball scholarship, where he earned his degree. William joined the US Navy on April 8, 1942, serving during WWII until receiving an Honorable Discharge on December 11, 1945. He continued in the US Naval Reserves until 1954. On January 27, 1942, William was united in marriage to Elizabeth Teale in Zion, Illinois. Following his discharge from the Navy, William continued his career in education in Iowa. In 1961, he accepted a position as Superintendent of the US Army Schools in Europe, which brought the family to Germany. In 1963 the family moved to California. William was a member of the Presbyterian Church. He was also active in Masonic Lodge and Rotary. William had a genuine, life-long interest in kids and education. William passed away Thursday, October 24, 2013 in Fairfield, California at ninety-five years of age. He is survived by his son, Robert Bolt and his wife, Georgia of Walnut Creek, California; granddaughters, Christine Enger of Portland, Oregon and Dianne Wolfe of Grass Valley, California; brother, Maurice Bolt; nieces, nephews and other family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth, son, Randy Bolt, grandson, Stephen Bolt, sisters, Gertrude M. Fleming and Gladys M. Konicek and brother, Ralph Bolt.
