Obituary of Roseana Titterington
A funeral service for Roseana Titterington, age 91, of Milford, will be held Friday, March 22, 2019 at 2:00pm at First Lutheran Church in West Okoboji. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Little Sioux Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Milford.
Roseana Alice Titterington was born April 5, 1927 in rural Milford, the daughter of Marenus and Alice Mae (Mertens) Johnson. She was born and educated in Milford, graduating from Okoboji Township Consolidated School in 1945. She attended Fairview School of Nursing in Minneapolis while living with her sister.
Roseana met Howard Titterington at a Milford/Okoboji school dance. They were later married on June 22, 1948 at Little Sioux Lutheran Church in rural Milford. Roseana's father was instrumental in getting the couple started in farming and Roseana took an active role in farming with her husband for nearly sixty-five years. Roseana took great pride in driving a bus for the Okoboji Schools for over fifty-nine years. In later years, she enjoyed birding and flowers and was an active jigsaw and crossword puzzle enthusiast. Roseana loved her family and the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Roseana was an active member at Little Sioux Lutheran Church, where she enjoyed playing the piano, singing in the choir, and, along with Howard, Lutheran League Sponsors.
Roseana and Howard ran Vern and Coila's Grocery for years, taking great pride in having the finest ground beef, the latest in food items and of course the biggest candy selection in the little town of West Okoboji, where area families would walk for their traditional summer treats.
Roseana passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Accura Healthcare in Milford, Iowa at ninety-one years of age.
Left to celebrate her earthly life are her children, Steven Titterington (Diane) of Milford, Sheryl Thu (Mike) of Spencer and Timothy Titterington (Rhonda) of Milford; sister-in-law, Marcia Titterington Whitney; ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marenus and Alice Johnson; husband, Howard Titterington; sisters, Jennie Wolthuis (Harm) and Helen Olson (Allen); brother, Nyle Johnson (Delila) and a nephew, Marven Wolthuis.
