Visitation: Wednesday, November 6th after 4:00pm with the family present from 5:00-7:00pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake
Funeral: Thursday, November 7th at 2:00pm at Grace Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake.
Burial: Silver Lake Cemetery in Lake Park
Marlys Eileen Grussing was born to Tony and Lena (Pulscher) Dagel on September 11, 1927 in Sibley, Iowa. Marlys graduated from Excelsior Consolidated High School in 1945.
She was baptized June 9, 1929 at the Congregational Church in Sibley, Iowa. Marlys was confirmed in 1946 at St. Paul's Lutheran, Rost Township, Lakefield, Minnesota.
Marlys was married to George Grussing on February 2, 1947 at Lakefield, Minnesota. Over the course of their married life, they farmed at Lakefield, Brewster and Lake Park before moving to Spirit Lake in 1989. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Lake Park.
Marlys passed away at her home on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at the age of eighty six.
Surviving Marlys are daughters Connie (Steve) Monson of Tucson, AZ and Linda (Keith) Rients of Lake Park, IA; grandchildren Melissa Hobeiche, Paul Monson, Gina Thompson and Kelsey Okins; great grandchildren, Jorgen and Jaedyn Thompson, Sophia and Brooklyn Okins; brother, Marvin and his wife Adeline.
Preceding Marlys in death were her brother, Floyd Dagel, sister, Viola Tabor, and husband, George Grussing.
