Obituary of Marjorie Flatt

Marjorie La Mona (Peck) Flatt, 89, Martinsville, formerly of Spirit Lake, Iowa, passed away at 9:50 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at The Waters of Martinsville. She was born on Friday, July 15, 1921 in Spirit Lake, Iowa to the late Delos and Bessie (Sanders) Peck. On September 9, 1946 she married Donald M. Flatt and he passed away on April 15, 1992. Marjorie was a graduate of Spirit Lake High School and a member of the Methodist Church in Spirit Lake. During WWII she worked in a California defense plant. When she moved back to Spirit Lake and married, she and Donald moved to the Flatt family farm where she was a homemaker for 32 years. After retirement, they moved to south Texas. After the death of her husband, she moved to Martinsville, Indiana. She enjoyed painting and socializing with her many friends. Survivors are her sons, Thomas Flatt and wife Sherry of Martinsville and Gregory Flatt and wife Frances of South Padre Island, Texas; brother, Stanley Peck of California; grandsons, Nathan, Randy and Aaron Flatt; stepgranddaughter, Lillian; stepgrandsons, Jerad and Bradley; greatstepgrandsons, Evan and Easton. She was also preceded in death by one son, Randal Flatt, and sisters, Irene Thiesen and Awreatha Scharnberg. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Turner Jenness Funeral Home, with visitation there two hours prior to the service. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens in Spirit Lake.
