Obituary of Aletha Meyer

A service for Aletha Meyer, 93, of Spirit Lake, Iowa, will be held at 11 am, Thursday, May 2, 2019, at Grace Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Interment will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in a family service at a later date. Aletha Lois Meyer, the daughter of Conrad and Ida (Rachuy) Krahling, was born on February 8, 1926 in rural Ashton. She attended school until the eighth grade at Dale Township. On November 24, 1944 she was united in marriage to Dick Meyer in Sibley, Iowa. Dick and Aletha lived in Sibley until they moved to Spirit Lake, Iowa in February of 1966. Aletha was a devoted housewife to Dick and their three children. Aletha later started working as a Berkley Home worker and later a housekeeper at various places. Aletha loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was also a member of the Grace Lutheran Church. Aletha passed away April 29, 2019 at Accura Healthcare in Spirit Lake, Iowa at ninety-three years of age. Aletha is survived by her daughter, Audrey (Tom) Kuhlman of Spirit Lake, Iowa, daughter, Bonnie (Randy) Reid of St. James, Minnesota and son, Kelly (Dee) Meyer of Spirit Lake, Iowa; grandchildren, Kevin Kuhlman, Peggy Lundgren, Alshy Meyer, Ryan Reid and Erica Garza; and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Meyer; two infant children; three infant grandchildren; one son-in-law, Randy Hartwig; three sisters and three brothers.
