Obituary of Betty Halbur
Betty Jane Halbur was born December 5, 1926 in Breda, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Harmina (Auen) Luchtel. She was raised and educated in Breda.
Betty was united in marriage to Edward Halbur on July 23, 1946 in San Antonio, Texas. The couple moved to Milford in 1954, where Betty worked at Berkley's for twenty-five years.
Betty was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milford, where she was active in Catholic Daughters of America and Lady of Fatima Circle. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Her Catholic faith was very important to her. Betty enjoyed playing the lottery and gardening. She loved her dog, Buddy, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Betty passed away Friday, June 3, 2011 at Milford Nursing Center in Milford at eighty-four years of age.
She is survived by a son, Kenny Halbur (Gidget) of Arnolds Park, Iowa; daughters, Marlene "Digger" Gillette (Charlie) of Lake Park and Tammie Galles (Matt) of Milford; grandchildren, Khara Janssen, Kizze Hromatko, Amber Oberman, Annika Jansen and James Halbur; great grandchildren, Kailye and Peyton Hromatko. Also surviving are her brothers, Duane Luchtel (Janet) and Henry Luchtel; sister-in-law, Toby Luchtel; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edward Halbur, son Albert Halbur, grandson, Korey Halbur, brother, Robert Luchtel and her parents.
