Obituary of Richard Harmon
Richard Dean Harmon was born on December 13, 1934 to Emmlet and Pauline (Aasland) Harmon on a farm place near Joice, IA. He attended school at a country school near Joice, IA., also attending school in Lake Mills, IA., and graduating from Ventura High School in Ventura, IA. Dick made his home with Ed and Ardith Furness during his Jr. and Sr. years of high school after his father's death, they took him in and treated him as their own son. Dick appreciated them more than words can tell. From that particular time in his life he has five "brothers", Dennis, Marlin, Don, Ralph and Roger Furness.
Dick served in the U. S. Army from 1956 to 1958.
Dick married LaVonne Johnson on January 26, 1963. They had three children, Kelly (Todd) Bram, Kevin (Jody) Harmon, and Todd (Kellie) Harmon. Dick and LaVonne had a wonderful marriage which ended due to LaVonne's death in 2000.
Dick spent most of his working career at Winnebago Industries. From there he worked at AACON Auto Transport where he dispatched Winnebago Motorhomes for deliver to dealers and 3M Company. He finished his working career as a tour guide for Winnebago Industries until he retired in 2002.
Dick met Judy Siemers in 2002 and they were married on January 4, 2003. They spent eight wonderful years together.
Dick is survived by his wife, Judy; daughter, Kelly (Todd) Bram, grandchildren Andrew (Janelle) Bram, Ben Bram and Ali Bram; son, Kevin (Jody) Harmon, grandchildren, Ashley Harmon, Tyler Harmon, Mitch Bartleson and Paige Bartleson son, Todd (Kellie) Harmon, grandchildren, Jessica Harmon, Joni Nelson and Jessica Nelson; step-son, Lonny (Evadne) Siemers and their children Travis Siemers and Troy Siemers; step-daughter, Laurie (Bruce) Wemette and their children Kayla and Lynsey; brothers, David (Rowena) Iverson, Duaine (Ellen) Harmon, Darrell Harmon, Greg (Lu) Tarr; sister Dorene (Gerald) Helin, and two sisters-in-law, Durene (Don) Harmon and Trudy (Dean) Harmon. Dick is also survived by two great grandchildren, Riley Bram (Andrew and Janell) and Jaidyn Harmon (Ashley). He also leaves a host of other relatives and wonderful friends.
Dick was proceded in death by his parents, his first wife LaVonne, two brothers Don Harmon and Dean Harmon, one sister Pat, step-dad Robert Tarr and surrogate parents Ed and Ardith Furness and their son Marlin Furness.
