Nancy and family -
we are thinking of you and your family during this difficult time.
I originally knew Nancy from VHS. Since then, through Carol&Tim and family, we have heard of so many great times in Iowa and Colorado.
May family and memories sustain you in your loss. love & prayers from Dorothy and Mac

Brian was a great teacher. He made science fun and sometimes had to work pretty hard to keep us from blowing up the school. I seem to recall a situation with his car and the trees on the south side of the Arnolds Park High School and some students who decided to parallel park the car between the tree and the school building. I never really knew how he got it out of the spot - perhaps the guys picked it up (again). Through all the shenanigans, he always kept his sense of humor. RIP Mr. Cerny!

I have a heavy heart as I write this. I spent many times listening to Cerny's stories; whether it be about his family, work, or all the fish Yackle didn't catch! He made a lasting impression in the northeast corner of Iowa and will be missed greatly!
My condolences to his family and friends; may fond memories bring you comfort!

When I began teaching in Arnolds Park, Brian took me under his wing. Brian did a great job of helping learn the practical things about being a teacher. I also had the privilege of docking with Brian. We shared a lot of good times together. I'm sorry for your loss.

Cousin Brian taught me to hunt, to drive (a 49 Ford), take care of myself, really the big brother I never had. We loved going to the farm- what good times we had with the Legbands, Petersons and the Cernys. Then there was Aunt Edna's family- Tiny Grama and Grandpa Vopalensky. The memories just keep coming and coming- will always be a wonderful part of my growing up.
Nancy and family- May the Good Lord comfort you in the days ahead.

My, oh my do all of the good memories come back. Aunt Edna's homemade carmels to Uncle Marvin silly jokes. He always called me a city slicker because we lived in the big city of Scribner and all of their 900 people. Their farm north east of Scribner was one of my favorite places to go when I was little. Brian looks sooooo much like his Dad. I am sure he was a very special person if he was anything like him. My sympathy to all of your family. May God bless you all!!!

I have so many fond memories about cousin Brian when brother Randy and I would get to stay out on the farm with Uncle Marvin, Aunt Edna and Madalyn and Brian.. I remember when we would stay upstair in Brian's bedroom in the middle of the winter with the only heat coming from the wood stove on the main floor below. We had warm thick down blankets to keep us warm but it was tough to get out from under those covers in the morning. Brian taught us how to hunt squirrels in the grove out back and pheasant along the creek bed below. They always had horses to ride and of course chores to do. Brian was always very kind to his "banana nose" cousin, a nick-name Brian and Marvin gave me when I was a little tyke. I wasn't all that pleased to be called that when I was little but it warms my heart when I think about it now!
May The Lord welcome Brian into his Kingdowm with open arms!
Rod Cerny

Mr. Cerny was one of my favorite teachers......even more so after high school. I had the pleasure of seeing him a few times during his battle with cancer. I go to breakfast at The Family Diner just about every Friday morning before work with the guys I work with. I would occassionally see him in there and I would go sit with him. We talked about lots of things. He really wanted to take me trout fishing over at his "cabin". He suggested one time he skipped his treatments so we could go! No words will ever properly explain the man he was! You will be missed by many people! I hope you meet up with my dad in heaven and share some stories! My prayers are with you and your family during this terribly tough time!!! May God be with you all!!!!

Brian was a good man liked by everyone that knew him. I enjoyed seeing him at teacher's meetings--I taught in a different building so I didn't see him very often. He was always friendly to everyone. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. May he rest in peace.
