Obituary of Betty Lane

Betty Joyce Lane was born September 10, 1929 the daughter of Wilmer and Viola Arneson in Emmetsburg, IA. She was raised and educated in Spirit Lake, Iowa and graduated from Spirit Lake High School. She was united in marriage to Donald A Lane on June 8, 1947 in Spirit Lake, Iowa. The couple made their home in Spirit Lake until Don's job brought the family to Rapid City, SD. In 1972, the family moved to Lake Park, Iowa where they have resided since. Betty was a cook/laundress for the Harris-Lake Park High School, where she retired in December of 2002 after 30 years of service. She had many hobbies and interest. She was known for her large collection of coffee mugs; Betty also enjoyed reading, knitting, sewing, and doing embroidering. She was member of the First Presbyterian Church. Betty passed away Monday August 8, 2011 in Sioux Falls, SD surrounded by her family. She survived by her children; Connie Kerr and husband George from Denver, CO, Danny Lane and wife Myra of Vinemont, AL, Annette Benson of Lake Park, IA, Jean Mesner of Sibley, IA, and Shelley Lane of Evans, CO; grandchildren Michael, Toni, Erica, Amy, Nisa, Jason, Ryan, Ross, and Derrek; twenty-three great-grandchildren; brother, Bill Arneson and wife Shirley of Spirit Lake, IA and sister-in-law Veree Lane of Milford; several nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded by her parents, husband Donald, daughter Sally Jo, sons-in law Mark Robinson and Russell Mesner, and grandson Cory Bergendahl.
