Obituary of Louis Jaeger
Louis Fredrick Jaeger was born December 4, 1910 on a farm near Royal, Iowa, the son of Carl and Anna (Claussen) Jaeger. He was raised near Royal, where he received his education.
Louis was united in marriage to Leona Jipson on February 14, 1933 in Sanborn, Iowa. They remained married until her death sixty-one years later in 1994. They were blessed with one daughter.
Louis began farming in the 1930's and farmed in Iowa and Minnesota until 1956. The couple then moved to Nebraska where they operated a motel and filling station. In 1964, they moved to Spencer and were involved in various businesses, primarily the purchasing, remodeling and selling of homes.
Louis was a member of First Baptist Church in Spencer, where he held a number of offices.
After his wife Leona passed away in 1994, Louis lived at Sunset Apartments until he went to live with his daughter. In 2004 he moved to the Apache Junction Health Center in Arizona, where he resided until his death August 6, 2011 at one hundred years, eight months and two days.
He is survived by a daughter, Sharon Hollinger and her husband, Tim of Apache Junction, Arizona; grandchildren, Cari Marshall of Cedar Hill, Texas, Lisa Green of Loretto, Minnesota and Nathan Hollinger of Scottsdale, Arizona; great grandchildren, Cassie, Joshua, Austin, Jamison, Anna, Emily and Isabel. He was preceded in death by his wife, brothers, Charles, Leonard, Albert, Henry Chris and Walter; and sisters, Elsie Moeller, Frieda Swanson and Dora Swartzenbach.
Louis was known as a fine Christian gentleman, who lived out his faith in love.
