Obituary of Mavis Richard

A memorial service for Mavis Richard, age 86, of Spirit Lake and formerly of Lake Park, will be held Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 11:00AM at United Methodist Church in Lake Park. Burial will be at Silver Lake Cemetery in Lake Park. Mavis June Richard, the daughter of Joseph and Leverna (Bucholz) Muilenburg born on June 12, 1932 in Melvin, Iowa. Mavis was united in marriage to Duane Leonard Richard on November 5, 1951. They lived in Hartley and Milford before purchasing their home in Lake Park, Iowa. Mavis was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lake Park. She loved to crochet, was an avid gardener and took joy in taking care of her husband, Duane. Mavis passed away at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake, Iowa at the age of eighty-six. Mavis is survived by her daughter, Roxann (Keith) Moriston; son, Randall Richard; granddaughters, Toni Moriston and Heather (Justin) Kracht; three great-grandchildren, Caleb, Ashton and Taylor Kracht; brother, Clifford (Susan) Muilenburg; sister, Lucille Busse and several nieces and nephews. Mavis was preceded in death by her husband, Duane; parents Joseph and Leverna Muilenburg; infant son, Randolf Richard; grandson, Boe Moriston; sister, Betty Wetherall.
