Obituary of Bert W. Shultz

A funeral service for Bert Shultz, age 88, of Spirit Lake, will be held Thursday, June 6, 2019 at 2:00pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lakeview Gardens Cemetery. Bert W. Shultz, the son of Bert and Mable (Anderson) Shultz, was born June 26, 1930 in Estherville, Iowa. Bert was enlisted in the United States Navy in 1948 and served as an airman in the Navy aboard Rendova the CVE-114, being honorably discharged in 1952. On February 18, 1952, he married Virginia Sharar. Bert enjoyed visiting with his children, tinkering around the house and loved his dog, Ranger. He was a member of the VFW. Bert passed away June 2, 2019 in hospice care from cancer at Accura Healthcare in Spirit Lake, Iowa at eighty-eight years of age. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Shultz, of Spirit Lake; daughter, Valerie (Curt) Hancock of Mt. Vernon, Iowa; son, Timothy (Jane Caviness) Shultz of Spirit Lake; son, Tyrone (Diane) Shultz of Westminster, Colorado; daughter, Vanessa (Kirk) Edwards of Topeka, Kansas; eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Bert was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Julie; brother, Keith Shultz and sister, Jeanette Knudson.
