Obituary of Arnie Ihnen

A funeral service for Arnie Ihnen, age 77, of Lakefield, Minnesota, will be held Thursday, June 20, 2019 at 10:30AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sioux Valley, Minnesota. Burial will be at Sioux Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 19th from 5:00-7:00PM at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Arnie Gene Ihnen, the son of Ben and Minnie (Fries) Ihnen, was born July 8, 1941 in Dickinson County, Iowa. He was baptized in Concordia Lutheran Church in Lake Park, Iowa and confirmed in Trinity Lutheran Church in Sioux Valley, Minnesota. Arnie attended school in Lake Park and Sioux Valley and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. On September 16, 1960, Arnie married Ruth Ann Rademacher. The family made their home near Sioux Valley, Minnesota where he farmed until his retirement in 2007. Arnie enjoyed his years of farming, his children and grandchildren's activities and sporting events. He also enjoyed tractor rides and shows. Arnie passed away Sunday, June 16, 2019 at his home in Lakefield, Minnesota at seventy-seven years of age. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ihnen; children, Rhonda (Paul) Blizel, Randy (Jan) Ihnen, Brenda (Ken) Sellner, Chad (Jill) Ihnen and Susan (Jeff) Barber; eleven grandchildren, Garrett and Casey Ihnen, Tessa, Brianne and Cole Ihnen, Austin, Caleb and Paige Barber, Ben (Amanda) Blizel, Katie (Eric) Buesgen and Matt Blizel; sisters, Verlene (Vernon) Walsh and Sharon Voss; brother, Ronald (Glenda) Ihnen; sister-in-law, Lorraine (France) Kuemper; brother-in-law, Jerol (Nancy) Rademacher. Arnie was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carmen Voehl; brothers-in-law, Darold Place, Eugene Voss, Duane Voehl and Burnell Peters.
