Obituary of Millie Minor
Mildred Ruth (Millie) Minor was born to Sherman and Lena (Frye) Shugart at Laddonia, Missouri. About a year after Millie's birth her mother died and she was raised by her father and six older sisters. Later the family moved to Iowa and she attended school at Tama and Lake Park.
On August 26, 1937 she was married to Thorvald Severtson at Milford and became parents of two children, Nancy and Phillip. In 1952 he passed away after a two year battle with cancer.
In 1957, Millie married Herb Minor. Herb loved and cared for the children as though they were his own. Herb passed away suddenly in 1986.
Later she enjoyed traveling with friend and companion of 8 1/2 years, Dwight Antisdel.
Millie worked for Ted Frederick at Coast to Coast for 27 years, retiring in 1980.
She passed away Thursday, October 20, 2011 at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley.
Millie was a member of the First Lutheran Church, active in the Miriam circle and served on the altar committee for fifteen years. She was a member of the Machine Knitting Club for thirty years. She also enjoyed her lawn and flowers. Millie's central concern in life was her family and home.
Mildred is survived by her daughter, Nancy Heuck and her husband, John of Everly, and grandchildren Mike and Angie and their families; son, Phillip Severtson and companion, Neva Martens, of Ankeny and grandchildren Aaron and Amber and their families; ten wonderful great grandchildren, six beautiful girls and four mischievous boys.
She was preceded in death her parents, two husbands, six sisters and one brother.
