Obituary of Melvin Schroeder

Melvin Fred Schroeder was born March 5, 1918 in Lakota, Iowa (Kossuth County), the son of George and Louise (Hans) Schroeder. After completing high school, Melvin served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II serving in the Pacific. He was honorably discharged in 1945. Melvin was untied in marriage to Susie Uhr on July 3, 1939. Susie passed away in 1970. On December 22, 1970, Melvin was married to Maxine L. Peterson in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Melvin had a livestock and grain farming operation before retiring in 1976. Melvin was a member if the VFW. Melvin passed away July 25, 2012 at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake at ninety-four years of age. He is survived by his son, Phil (Marilyn) Schroeder of West Des Moines; grandchildren, Kim Schroeder and Jeff Schroeder; great-grandson, Luke Schroeder. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Susie Schroeder, his wife, Maxine Schroeder and one brother. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
